CPM and Physical Therapy
The use of CPM will accelerate the healing process and situate you in a position that enables your participation in physical therapy. Use of CPM between therapy visits will help you maintain the progress you make during therapy.
The Advantages of CPM
- Generates increased blood flow and nutrition to the injured site while moving the limb or joint
- Prevents stiffness and soreness
- Reduces pain and swelling
- Reduces formation of scar tissue
- Increases range of motion and flexibility
The motion of CPM is gentile, constant and passive. CPM may actually diminish pain. Maintaining your limb in constant passive motion will keep it limber and flexible and will consequently prevent stiffness and soreness.
Use of CPM
You will need to use CPM for a period of time determined by your doctor. They will consider the type of injury and your response time when making their determination.
